In 2012, NAIT will celebrate its 50th anniversary. To mark the occasion, we want you to help create a photo gallery of NAIT over the past five decades. Post the photos you took while you were a student or staffer – photos like the one above by Bruce Woloshyn (Radio and Television ’84), taken while shooting a feature in Jasper – to the NAIT Alumni Facebook page or email them to us.
The ones that best capture the spirit of NAIT will be selected for publication in the 50th anniversary issue of techlife magazine in fall 2012. Check out all the rules below.
Rules and Regulations (Official Rules)
Contest Period: The techlife 50th Anniversary Photo Contest begins at 9 a.m. MST on Oct. 6, 2011 and closes at 4 p.m. MST on March 30, 2012. By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to the Official Rules and warrants that his or her entry complies with all requirements set out in the Official Rules.
Eligibility: The contest is open to NAIT alumni, students, staff and retired staff. Current NAIT executive, staff in the Department of Advancement, staff in the Department of Marketing and Communications, and contest judges are excluded from this contest, as are their family members and people who reside within their households.
How to Enter: To be entered into the contest, upload a picture you took that best captures the spirit of NAIT to the NAIT Alumni Facebook page or email it to alumni@nait.ca before 4 p.m. MST on March 30, 2012. With your picture, include a few sentences that describe the photo. Be sure to include when and where it was taken, who is pictured (consider using Facebook’s tagging feature), the program featured (if any), and why you think it captures the spirit of NAIT.
Contest Entry Restrictions: Entrants are restricted to two (2) entries. If an entrant submits more than two (2) entries, only the first two photos submitted will be considered.
Contest Prizes: There will be four (4) prizes given at the end of the contest. Three (3) prizes will be awarded by the judges. One (1) prize will be awarded to the entrant whose photo received the most “Likes” on the NAIT Alumni Facebook page as of 4 p.m. MST on April 6, 2012. Contest winners will have their winning photo published in the fall 2012 issue of techlife magazine and online at techlifemag.ca. Contest winners will also receive NAIT branded merchandise. Prizes are not redeemable in cash and must be accepted as awarded.
Judging: Photos will be judged by a three-person panel consisting of alumni and retired staff. Judging will occur during the first week of April 2012. Judges will be looking for photos that capture the spirit of NAIT. That includes photos that invoke a feeling of nostalgia and that demonstrate any of the following: education for the real-world, leading-edge technology or the student or staff experience. Judges will select three (3) photos. People’s Choice: The photo with the most “Likes” on the NAIT Alumni Facebook page as of 4 p.m. MST on April 6, 2012 will receive the People’s Choice Award.
Notification of Winners: Contest winners will be contacted on April 9, 2012 by email or through Facebook. Winners will be contacted in the same way they entered the contest.
Consent: By entering the contest, all entrants give the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) the absolute and irrevocable right and permission to publish the photo entries (along with a name credit) in connection with the contest and in promotion of the contest in any media, including, but not limited to the fall 2012 issue of techlife magazine, techlifemag.ca and the NAIT website, including on the Historical NAIT Photo of the Week.
Privacy: The personal information in the NAIT Facebook page or email entry is being collected under the mandate of the Post-secondary Learning Act.
