President Glenn Feltham's aspirations for NAIT

On May 5, 2011, Dr. Glenn Feltham was installed as NAIT's sixth president during the intitute's first event of its kind.

Attended by Dr. Feltham's friends and members of his family, dignitaries including MLAs, mayors and city councillors, heads of other academic institutions, faculty and staff, and other friends of the institute, the ceremony began with a parade of bagpipers and ended with the signing of the NAIT parchment, in which the president and Board of Governors chair James Cumming affirmed their committment to the institute.

The installation also included a speech by Dr. Feltham entitled "A Vision for NAIT Based on Relevance and Responsiveness," (59K pdf) which both defined the institute and set its direction according to four educational pillars:

  • science, technology and the environment
  • health care
  • trades
  • business, including new venture and commercialization

Also as part of that speech, Dr. Feltham outlined his aspirations for NAIT. Watch the short video above for a glimpse of the future of the polytechnic, including the new president's thoughts on what it will be and, just as importantly, what it won't be.
